ShlinkedIn is an open source social network with thousands of members that I started in March 2020. I had three goals for ShlinkedIn:
- Learn Elixir.
- Create a place for my roommate Sam and I to vent how lame corporate-speak is.
- Get a Cease and Desist from LinkedIn to hang on the wall.
Since then, I can proudly say that I have accomplished the first two. I’m still hopeful for the third.
The coolest moment in ShlinkedIn history was probably when Der Spiegel featured us on their front page with the headline “Bullshit-Bingo mit Beff Jezos”. That led to a lot of signups and I quickly had to figure out how to deal with database overload issues.
We also reached the #1 spot on Hacker News. Somehow I also ended up creating a ShlinkedIn Platinum debit card that gives 2% cash back.
